Kai Shin Kai - Tampa

Instructor

Veronica Brown, Sandan, began training in the art of Aikido while living in Great Britain in 1984.  As a member of the USAF, she traveled to many countries and states, not able to really dedicate consistent time and training in one location.

Through her travels, she and her husband, Sensei David Brown, spread the art of Aikido classes at each home base. Having retired from the military in 1994, Sensei's Brown settled in St. Louis, Missouri. They built a private dojo in their back yard in 1998 and began teaching the Kai Shin Kai style of Aikido at that time.

Sensei Veronica was awarded Sandan in November 2004, by Sensei's William Harris, 6th Dan, and Vincent Sumpter, 5th Dan.

Sandan
By Veronica Brown

Two warriors meet in a challenge of might
One seeks victory in an unwarranted fight
The other seeks peace in harmonizing grace
Directing each movement and setting the pace

Dialogue discarded, its power he craves
O’er weak individuals, this bully is made
Belittling aggression makes him feel tall
Our hero arises to cut him down small

He throws his first punch, his target in sight
Our hero deflects it and moves to the right
Anger starts growing as blood fills his eyes
Frustration takes over with all that he tries

A choke from behind, he’s sure it will work
But our hero dips down and back with a smirk
Taking his hand as he backs out and free
Twisting the fingers down in towards his knee

Our bully falls hard, face into the floor
Not knowing what happened, nor wanting more
Our hero gets settled down close on his knees
Controlling the bully with calm, gentle ease

A fight is not what you want here today
For spirits can be broken, a high price to pay
Control's a delusion where strength is not might
For dominating others can never be right
